This message is to inform you that we are currently experiencing a partial power outage at Uniondale High School and Central Administrative Offices due to a down fuse on a pole according to PSEG. This has impacted our internet throughout the district and our telephone systems. PSEG expects to resolve this issue shortly. Classes at the High School are continuing as scheduled. Please join us Friday, November 17th from 6:30-8:30 PM for a family movie night showing of Disney's "Elemental". The cost is $5 per child for PTA members or $8 per child for non PTA members. Cash will only be accepted on movie night. Parents must accompany their child for the entire event. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

The Uniondale Board of Education is seeking to widen its network of engaged parents by creating an opportunity for families to support the district and their children in addressing: Educational Issues, Technology Practices, and Social Emotional Learning. Grand Avenue's RED RIBBON Spirit Week! Monday October 30th: Believe in yourself! Wear a shirt with a positive message or wear RED to kick off Red Ribbon Week! Tuesday October 31st: Say BOO to Drugs! Wear your Halloween costume for the parade. Do NOT wear your costume to school. Students will change into their costumes for the parade. Wednesday November 1st: My Future is TOO Bright! Wear BRIGHT colors or sunglasses. Thursday November 2nd: I am a work of art! Showcase your unique style. Wear your favorite outfit, favorite color, or mix-match all your favorite colors. Friday November 3rd: We are TEAM GRAND! Wear your GRAND Ave gear or your favorite sports gear.

FEMA Emergency Alert System to Occur Wednesday, October 4th Dear Uniondale Students, Staff, and Families, On Wednesday, Oct. 4th at 2:20 p.m. ET, there will be a nationwide emergency alert test on cell phones, wireless devices, radios, and TVs. Cell towers will broadcast the test for approximately 30 minutes. The test will include a notification with a vibration and an alert tone. The message will say “This is a test of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed.” This is a standard test that occurs at least once every three years to help ensure that systems are operational to warn the public about emergencies if and when they happen. While this is only a test of the system, it will occur during school hours and could cause confusion, so it’s important to be aware of the information that can be found on FEMA’s website.
