FEMA Emergency Alert System to Occur Wednesday, October 4th
Dear Uniondale Students, Staff, and Families,
On Wednesday, Oct. 4th at 2:20 p.m. ET, there will be a nationwide emergency alert test on cell phones, wireless devices, radios, and TVs. Cell towers will broadcast the test for approximately 30 minutes. The test will include a notification with a vibration and an alert tone. The message will say “This is a test of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed.”
This is a standard test that occurs at least once every three years to help ensure that systems are operational to warn the public about emergencies if and when they happen.
While this is only a test of the system, it will occur during school hours and could cause confusion, so it’s important to be aware of the information that can be found on FEMA’s website.
Attached is an informational flyer regarding the National Emergency Alert Test.
Thank you for your understanding.

The Uniondale Homecoming Parade is this Saturday, September 30th. All students in grades 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are welcome to represent Grand Avenue in the parade! Students have until this Friday, September 29th to return the permission slips. Permission slips will be sent home today.

Just a reminder, please wear green tomorrow, September 26th. The color green represents hope, growth, and renewal, and by wearing it, we can stand together with Farmingdale as they navigate this difficult chapter.

Please wear green on Tuesday, September 26th. The color green represents hope, growth, and renewal, and by wearing it, we can stand together with Farmingdale as they navigate this difficult chapter.

Dear Uniondale Community, As we are painfully aware, on Thursday, the Farmingdale School District lost two beloved members of their school community in a tragic bus accident that also injured several students. Our hearts go out to their families, friends, colleagues and the entire school district during this incredibly difficult time. In times of grief, it's important for us to come together as a community and lean on one another for support. We want our friends and neighbors in the Farmingdale School District to know that we stand with them today and during the difficult days ahead. With this in mind, I would like to ask all students and staff to wear green on Tuesday, September 26th. The color green represents hope, growth, and renewal, and by wearing it, we can stand together with Farmingdale as they navigate this difficult chapter. This simple gesture speaks volumes about our empathy, unity, and the compassion we have for one another. It is a way for our students to extend their heartfelt support to our friends in Farmingdale, letting them know that we are here, and we care deeply and we will continue to support them in their journey toward healing. Thank you. Sincerely, Monique Darrisaw-Akil, Ed.D. Superintendent of Schools Uniondale UFSD
